Ægishjálmur

Description

Ægishjálmur pattern is a  simple design of a traditional Icelandic wool sweater. Vegvísir is my most popular pattern and I wanted to make a pattern with Ægishjálmur as well. Ægishjálmur lopapeysa is inspired by the old Icelandic magical stave, Helm of Awe,” in English and is a symbol of courage, protection, and strength. Ægishjálmur pattern is available in adult sizes for Álafosslopi and in kids sizes, and now finally for Léttlopi as well.

Ægishjálmur sweater is knitted from the bottom up in the round. A few of my test knitters did however knit their sweaters from top to bottom. As the pattern is easy to follow, you can simply start at the neck and follow it down if you prefer to knit top to bottom.
